Are you fed with Forbes Magazine? A group of proud Stocktonians have gathered together to plan an event to show the world that Stockton is not miserable—it’s MAGNIFICENT! The event is hosted by the Miracle Mile Improvement District and will be held on Saturday April 23rd from 10 am to 2 pm on Pacific Avenue at Tuxedo Court.
The photograph will be taken at Noon looking at the crowd on the streets of the Miracle Mile. The Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic and a stage will be erected in the middle of the street. Volunteer entertainers will sing, dance and tell jokes to the citizens of Stockton, while volunteer artist are busy painting a wall mural on the corner of Pacific and Adams Street.
Saturday April 23rd – 11am
Non-profit organizations have been invited to set up information booths and KJOY and KWIN will be providing live feed from the event. The City Council proclaimed April as “Stockton is Magnificent” month and local school children will be displaying paintings and essays titled, “What I like about Stockton”. The Record will be on hand to document the event, along with a videographer and several photographers.

Al’s Comic Shop on the Miracle Mile has been there since I can remember. If you are looking for some unique comic ideas or games this is the place for you. From comics, past comics, figures, dice, to books Al’s has it for you. They are very friendly and can help you with any questions you have.
I have been shopping there since the 80′s. The decor is still the same. Whenever I set foot in there it’s like stepping back in time as nothing has changed. This is a good thing, as it reminds me of to good ‘ol comics. Now there are so many, it’s hard to keep track.
Yep, this blog made me sound like a nerd, but so what. It’s my way of not growing up. Have a good time.

Manny’s California Fresh is a cute little place on the south end of Miracle Mile. It is just about across the street from the Stockton Unified Adult School.
I really like this place because they serve some really quality food. At first glance you may think it is a fast food restaurant but it isn’t. All the food is made to order and the prices are really reasonable for the portions. The reviews on yelp, 192 of them, really speak to the quality of the food.
A word of caution to anyone dieting. Most food, not all, is fried in some way. Manny’s food is great and may just bust the calorie count for the day. No worries, there is always tomorrow.
Dine in or take out Manny’s will treat you right.

This Friday, March 4th, head over to Valley Brew(Day 85 0f 365 things to do in Stockton), and see some great Jazz. Wendi Maxwell and her trio show their appreciation of straight-ahead jazz with some cool jazz, some bebop, and some standards including the Paul Desmond/Dave Brubeck classic “Take Five”, Stanley Turrentine’s “Sugar”, and Thelonious Monk’s “Well I Never” – all with the infrequently heard vocalese lyrics.

Sam’s is one of those spot’s in Stockton that I have driven past a few hundred times but never went to. Sam’s Cafe has been on the Miracle Mile what seems like forever. I get so used going to the ”normal” spots that we fail to try new things. Well, Sam’s was pretty good.
Upon walking, my first impression of that is of an old-sytle diner, which is unique in Stockton. It is fairly inexpensive and you do get a good amount of food so you definitely do not leave hungry. It is a place I would go to again and would recommend to any other first timers.
Don’t wait as long as I did to check this place out….

There is so much to do this weekend in Stockton! If you are a ski and snowboarder and are ready to get pumped up for this season, head down to the Empire Theatre on the Miracle Mile and catch this years film. The Cost is $15 dollars at REI or Empresso Coffeehouse. Tickets will be $17.50 at the door, but the cost of the ticket will alos buy you a Bear Valley Lift voucher!

The food never seems to disappoint and is very consistent each time we visit. I especially like the sesame chicken which comes with fresh field green’s and a good serving of white rice,Yum! My wife and son seem to love the sushi too!
Occasionally, well more often than not, the place is packed which can understandably slow service some. However, we leave satisfied.
Check out the reviews on yelp! There are 135 of them and CoCo Ro has a 4 out of 5 rating. If you haven’t tried them yet, I suggest you give them a shot for lunch or dinner. And if you feel like eating in the comfort of your own home, they have opened a new take out restaurant in Brookside.

Halloween on the Mile
Today, October 30th, 12pm – 5pm. Go trick or treat on the Mile Miracle. The merchants on the mile will be handing out candy to those kids dressed in their costumes.
Downtown Stockton Pub Crawl
The Costume Pub Crawl will be held today from 5pm – midnight. Crawlers resister at the Hotel Stockton and pick up wristbands and wouchers for free drinks and appetizers to the participating bars and restaurants.
Wristbands range $10 to $27 and include three drinks, three appetizers, live entertainment and unlimited trolley transportation. CRAWL swag will be given away at the Lexington Waterfront Plaza Hotel beginning at 11 pm.

While walking down the Miracle Mile today I stopped in and visited Green’s Nutrition. They are a great place that provides products and services that will enhance your health! Green’s Nutrition Center, formerly Lundy’s Nutrition Center, is in their new location and is loving it!
They are now located in what was formally a Wells Fargo Bank. May favorite feature of the place is walking into the herb room, because it was formally the bank vault!
Green’s has the largest inventory of bulk herbs and spices in the Valley and carry medicinal herbs in both powders, cut and sifted, barks, and roots. We have a wide variety of culinary herbs and spices as well-some hard to find spices, and they are fresher than you will find in the little boxes in the grocery store, as well as being more cost effective.
They now also offer herb classes if you have a desire to learn more about taking care of your health, naturally. The classes are taught by Dr. Eunice Green, NHD and Chris Devencenzi.

Three course dinner offerings will be available at $15, $20 and $25 and two/three course lunch specials will be offered for $9.95. Other specials may also be available during the week at participating restaurants.
