Day 115 of 365 Things to do in Stockton: Payter’s Grill

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca on August 17th, 2010 by keebler – View Comments

Last night was one of those nights. After a long day and no one felt like lifting a finger to make dinner, clean up and everything that goes along with it.  So, we head over to Payter’s Grill in Lincoln Center.

Payter’s is an American grill that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  The sandwiches and french fries are a big hit, but mostly I love the old-fashioned milkshakes which are made with real ice cream, nothing fake there!  Some say Payter’s has slower service, but all their meal are made fresh over the grill one at a time.  This type of cooking is worth the wait.

If you’re a sport fan, one of the dining rooms is filled with pictures and autogrpahs of former and current athletes from various sports.  It’s cool to check out while grabing a bit to eat.   The owner, Pete Pijl,  has owned Payter’s for the last 27 years and has been a baseball coach for 23 years at St. Mary’s high school

Day 107 of 365 things to do in Stockton: Bud’s Seafood Grille

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca, 95207 on August 3rd, 2010 by keebler – View Comments

When you are in the mood for fresh seafood, beef or chicken I recommend Bud’s Seafood Grille.  To be honest I’m not much of a seafood eater, but that doesn’t stop me from going to bud’s because I can order Bud’s beef.  An entree which is perhaps the best steak in town. What is you favorite item to order at bud’s? Comment below!

I have eaten there a number of times and from reading the reviews on yelp,  I can say most people have not had a bad meal at Bud’s.

From Bud’s Seafood Grille website:

Family owned and operated since 1993. Bud’s food can best be described as “simple and fresh”. Voted “Best Seafood Restaurant” in San Joaquin county every year since 1994, Bud’s provides the ideal seafood dining experience with an extensive menu of fresh seafood, a variety of beef and chicken entrees as well as delicious salads and fresh homemade desserts.

My mouth is watering just thinking about the delicious food.  Take a look at the menu an your will be too.  The restaurant offers catering and also has a banquet room for those larger parties.

Day 97 of 365 Things to do in Stockton: Domo’s Japanese Grill

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca, 95207 on July 15th, 2010 by keebler – View Comments

The other day my wife and I did not want to cook.  It was hot, we were indecisive on what to make, and neither of us felt like standing in the kitchen.  Luckily, there are many great restaurants to choose from in Stockton.  Great, another decision to make!  We choose to head over to Lincoln Center (day 2 of 365 Things to do in Stockton) and pick a place to eat.  We got there and saw that Domo’s, a new Japanese restaurant had just opened.  Score, something new to try!

Domo’s is a sushi and Japanese restaurant which also features 4-5 teppanyaki tables.  Teppanyaki is when the cooks make the food on a grill right in front of you.  The inside of the restaurant is very big and beautiful.  It has been remodeled from top to bottom since taking over the old Gulskins building in Lincoln Center north.  But, we didn’t go there to stare at the light fixtures and new decor, we went to eat.

The food was very good.  My wife had a California roll and asparagus roll, while I choose to go with the sesame chicken entree.  We both enjoyed our food and were even more pleasantly surprised when we got the bill.  20% had been taken off for happy hour.  All food and drinks were 20% off from 4-6 pm!

So, if you are looking for a good place to eat and for something new to do, try Domo’s Japanese restaurant in Lincoln Center.

Looking for a tasty treat on a warm summer night? Head over to yogurt my way. They’re a self serve frozen yogurt shop were you can get as little or as much as your stomach desires.

In each location they serve 8 different flavors of yogurt and countless toppings. Other than the standard chocolate and vanilla, cake batter, oreo cookie, blueberry and strawberry are often found in my cup.  My favorite is vanilla topped with almonds and cookie dough! Yum.  What is your favorite?

Day 58 of 365 Things to do in Stockton: David’s Pizza

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca, 95207 on May 26th, 2010 by keebler – View Comments

Welcome to the 58th day of this fun little project, “365 things to do in Stockton.”  I hope everyone is enjoying it as much as I am.

Yes that’s right. David’s Pizza. Im not just picking this place because of it’s ultra cool name with which we share.  David’s has great pizza’s too!  When I am craving pizza, David’s is the first place I think of.  The pizza is made with thick crust, New York style.  They serve the traditional pizza’s and make some gourmet ones as well.  They also do sandwiches, salads, calzones, desserts and beer & wine too.

David’s New York style pizza has two locations and both have the same great quality pizza that you would expect from a guy named David.  If you have never tried a David’s Pizza, I recommend you do!

The original David’s Pizza (what was once Michael’s Pizza) location is in the Parkwood’s Shopping center on 744 West Hammer Lane. The 2nd restaurant is located in Lincoln Center south at 900 West Benjamin Holt Drive.

Day 2 of 365: Lincoln Center under the “L”

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca on March 30th, 2010 by keebler – View Comments

Under the “L” at Lincoln Center is where you will find great dining, unique shopping, and all around good times.  Established in the early 1950′s this center continues to evolve as one of the best shopping centers in Stockton. One of my favorite things to do in Lincoln Center is to enjoy a morning coffee and bagel from Noah’s Bagel’s as I soak up the morning sunshine.  More often than not you will see a friend doing the same.

One of the more popular events is held in the late spring, summer and early fall.  Lincoln Center Live is held one Friday every month and features classic car shows, live music, food, and wine.  Many Stocktonians come to these free events to mingle and have a great time.  Check Lincoln Centers website for upcoming dates for their future events. See this previous video I made about Lincoln Center and some of it’s highlights.
