The photograph will be taken at Noon looking at the crowd on the streets of the Miracle Mile. The Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic and a stage will be erected in the middle of the street.  Volunteer entertainers will sing, dance and tell jokes to the citizens of Stockton, while volunteer artist are busy painting a wall mural on the corner of Pacific and Adams Street.

Saturday April 23rd – 11am

Non-profit organizations have been invited to set up information booths and KJOY and KWIN will be providing live feed from the event.  The City Council proclaimed April as “Stockton is Magnificent” month and local school children will be displaying paintings and essays titled, “What I like about Stockton”.  The Record will be on hand to document the event, along with a videographer and several photographers.

Three soloist (The New Pacific Trio) join our orchestra in a great work by Beethoven. A well established trio as the soloists with our fine orchestra make for a dramatic first half of the concert.
Intermission
Faure – Pavane
This lush piece carries a cantabile tune “sung” throughout the orchestra.
Dvorak- Humoresque
This arrangement for orchestra takes a popular solo piece by Dvorak and enriches it with colorful orchestral sounds.
Scarlatti – Tommasini – The Good Humored Ladies
This piece is a lot of fun to listen to. It is very light in nature. The music is taken from many of Scarlatti’s piano pieces and dressed up in an extraordinary fashion by Tommasini. I always look for a big ending of the festival and the final movement delivers! It is quick with a wonderful curtain call feeling of an ending.

Welcome to the 10th Anniversary of the Saint John’s Chamber Orchestra Festival!
This year we have invited Maestro George Buckbee all the way from Finland to guest conduct. He and Peter Ottesen started this fine orchestra and it has been going strong ever since. We celebrate so much of what is good in Stockton through our music making. A great many of the orchestral musicians reside here, along with most of our soloists. The guest composer went to U.O.P. and our concert hall is right in the center of town! No wonder we won the Mayor’s Award for bringing the arts to Downtown Stockton! This is a festival of high quality. The excellence of our music making along with the fantastic acoustics and beauty of Saint John’s Church make for a constantly enriching human and musical event year after year.

Scheduled to entertain you will be a classic car show with cars pre 1979.  Check out some of the pics on the Miracle Mile Night website from last year.  There are some awesome looking cars!  That evening will also feature the final round of the of the pin-up girl contest.

While you browse through viewing the classic cars and checking out the arts & crafts, antiques and kid zone, live music will be playing on 3 different stages located along the Miracle Mile.  Im suer the evening will not go without good food and beverages too.

The exciting Cultural festival that will be on Saturday, July 31 through Sunday, Aug. 1, starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 9 p.m. each day. Performances by community performance groups including Stockton Bukkyo Taiko and Sacramento Taiko groups as well as traditional dance from local dance groups and martial arts demonstrations will be done throughout the day. This takes place in our Social Hall along with a variety of Japanese crafts for sale and display.

The traditional “taste of Japan” brings traditional favorites of teriyaki chicken, kushiyaki, traditional sushi, and hot udon, all served both indoor and outside. Outside entertainment includes our variety of games for children and adults. Temple tours will also be given along with our farmer’s market and plant sale.

It will be held this Sunday, June 6, 2010 from 9:30 A.M to 3:30 P.M.  According to the food fair co- chair, Karen Foley “The most popular activity at the food fair is eating because the freshly made food is hard to find in local stores.”  Choice of food is a bagel with lox and cream cheese or corned beef sandwich.   Each selection is $10.00 which includes a deli brunch of cole slaw, kosher dill pickle, juice, tea or coffee.

Ever had a BBQ bagel? I didn’t know but this is a method to making them and will be there at the festival for you to try!  Also on tap to be there will be live music, a silent auction and beer tasting from Valley Brew.

Jewish Food Festival at Temple Israel

Slated to bring the fun will be live music, food, a low rider car show, raffle prizes, kids corner, skate boarding competition, and the reason I will be going, wine tasting!  Come on out to this great family event this Saturday evening and enjoy the fun.

Some of the proceeds go to a raise funds for the El Dorado School Science camp fund!

The proceeds of the Stockton Asparagus Festival are shared by over 100 charities that are represented by the Spear-It Staff volunteers. Each charity receives a “donation” based on a schedule of units, or hours, for the work performed by the volunteers.  In 2008 the Asparagus Festival was able to distribute $461,912 among the charities involved. In the past 23 years, over $4.5 million dollars has been contributed back to local charities directly from the Stockton Asparagus Festival.
