Are you fed with Forbes Magazine? A group of proud Stocktonians have gathered together to plan an event to show the world that Stockton is not miserable—it’s MAGNIFICENT! The event is hosted by the Miracle Mile Improvement District and will be held on Saturday April 23rd from 10 am to 2 pm on Pacific Avenue at Tuxedo Court.
The photograph will be taken at Noon looking at the crowd on the streets of the Miracle Mile. The Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic and a stage will be erected in the middle of the street. Volunteer entertainers will sing, dance and tell jokes to the citizens of Stockton, while volunteer artist are busy painting a wall mural on the corner of Pacific and Adams Street.
Saturday April 23rd – 11am
Non-profit organizations have been invited to set up information booths and KJOY and KWIN will be providing live feed from the event. The City Council proclaimed April as “Stockton is Magnificent” month and local school children will be displaying paintings and essays titled, “What I like about Stockton”. The Record will be on hand to document the event, along with a videographer and several photographers.

Let the fun begin! In just one more day the 26th anniversary of the Stockton Asparagus Festival will take place at the Downtown Stockton Waterfront. As with previous years, the amount of fun, activities, entertainment will not disappoint. Perhaps the best and most important part about the Asparagus Festival is the proceeds of the festival are directly injected back into local charities!
When: April 15th-17th
The proceeds of the Stockton Asparagus Festival are shared by over 100 charities that are represented by the Spear-It Staff volunteers. Each charity receives a “donation” based on a schedule of units, or hours, for the work performed by the volunteers. In 2008 the Asparagus Festival was able to distribute $461,912 among the charities involved. In the past 23 years, over $4.5 million dollars has been contributed back to local charities directly from the Stockton Asparagus Festival.

Join the Filipino American Heritage Associtation (FAHA) for their 2nd Annual Cultural Night. The event is this Saturday, April 2nd and it’ll be good time. How do I know?
Well, for those who know me, I am far from a Filipino. However, I have spent my share of time at the infamous Filipino parties. All the Filipino parties that I have attended, there is so much food and drink to feed an army. And just when you think you can’t eat anymore, you HAVE TO take some home with you. You can’t leave empty handed, so your all set for lunch the next day. I love the spirit and hospitality the Filipino culture provides. It’s amazing and so are the lumpia!
Back to the event: So, I covered the amount and food and drinks that will be there. In addition, also planned is Filipino Dance, singing, performances, prizes and more.

Eddie Griffin didn’t always aspire to be a comedian. His first love was always dance and by the young age of 16, he opened his own dance studio and was choreographing the Kansas City Chiefs half-time shows. But all of that would soon change when one night his cousin dared him to go on stage at the local comedy club Sanford and Sons where he was told to do 3 minutes. He performed off-the-cuff for 45 minutes successfully. It was then that Griffin purchased a one-way ticket to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a stand up.
