Day 102 of 365 Things to do in Stockton: City Center Cinema Theatre

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca, 95202 on July 27th, 2010 by keebler – View Comments

The downtown Stockton City Center Cinema theatre has become the center of downtown.  The City of Stockton has done a lot to help the downtown area become a better place to attract businesses and therefore spend time there.  The theatre is Located in Downtown Stockton in the Janet Leigh Plaza.

Although I have always found the popcorn to be better at other theaters in the area, the best “bang for your buck” is the ice cream.  It is cheap and they give you a lot!  Check it out!

Catching a movie is a great way to beat the weather.  Enjoy a flick rain or shine!  Come downtown, have dinner then see a movie at the City Cinema Theatre.

Barefoot in the park was written by Neil Simon and is a romantic comedy.  The original broadway play first opened in October of 1963 and featured the likes of Robert Redford, Elizabeth Ashley and Mildred Natwick.

I have never seen the play but am assuming it is a good one since it ran for 1530 shows! It closed in June of 1967 and was nominated for three Tony Awards.  If you are looking for a good show, head over to the Civic Theatre this weekend and catch the final shows!  The theatre could really use all the local support.

Day 28 of 365 Things to do in Stockton: See Grease at Delta College

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca, 95207 on April 25th, 2010 by keebler – View Comments

Coming soon to a theatre near you; Grease!  The Delta Center for the Arts will be performing the original version of the Broadway play grease.  It will be shown two consecutive weekends

starting Friday 4/30.  I was able to go inside and get a sneak peek of a rehearsal below!  From the short time I was there, this play is bound to be high energy entertainment!  Produced by Harvey Jordan of Delta College, Grease will bring the sounds of early rock-and-roll, and will surely get your feet tapping!

From Wikipedia:

Grease is a 1971 musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The musical is named for the 1950s United States working-class youth subculture known as the greasers. The musical, set in 1959 at fictional Rydell High School (loosely based on William Howard Taft School), follows ten working-class kids as they navigate the complexities of love, cars, and drive-ins.
