If you are looking to gaze upon the stars and learn something really cool, head over to the Delta College Planetarium! The planetarium has completed its major refurbishment and is now reopen. It has a new Scidome HD, digital projector capable of showing the sky from anywhere on Earth, the Solar System, or the galaxy as well as being able to play fulldome videos.
The planetarium is open for Public shows one weekend a month, and open for Field Trips on weekdays. If you would like a private show or have a scout group interested in a show please contact them.

“Force 5 ” and “California Skies”
The wine, beer, and food tasting event will kick off the 3 new exhibits. The Haggin was kind enough to let me in to give me a sneak peak of the 3 exhibits. Watch the video below to get your sneak peak of these fabulous exhibits.
- Returning to the Haggin is the J.C. Leyendecker exhibit. J.C. Leyendecker is know as America’s “other” Illustrator opposite of Norman Rockwell. J.C. Leyendecker was arguably the
nation’s most popular commercial artistsin the early part of the 20th century. Much of his work was done for the Saturday Evening Post. He was greatly admired by Norman Rockwell who’s art became popular among millions of Americans. I didn’t know who J.C. Leynedecker was but I sure did recognize his work. His illustrations will be displayed at the Haggin Museum starting Thursday the 20th.
- Also opening the 20th of May, is the California Impressionism painting exhibit. All paintings are captured under the Californian sunshine and feature landscapes from around the state. 59 paintings from the Irvine Museum will be on hand for the public to view. Get a peek in the video below.
- Finally, the Bustles & Balustrades exhibit will be shown in the 2nd floor of the Haggin Museum. It is an exhibit which will bring the Victorian clothing of 19th century women and architecture of the homes together. Vignettes featuring clothing and objects from the museum’s collections rarely seen by the public will be on display throughout the gallery. This exhibit will be on display thorough August 15, 2010.

Head out to the strawberry patch on the corner of 8mile rd & Davis rd and pick your own strawberries. The strawberries are bright red and are deliciously sweet! Yum, they’re better than candy. If your not in the mood to pick your own you and can buy some at the booth on site. However, if you are looking for the freshest strawberries in town, this is your place!
I think that this is a great thing for the kids to do as it gives them a small glimpse of how food is grown and what farmers do. What a great tasting learning opportunity!
The owners encourage you to fill up the baskets as much as possible. The patch and the self pick hours are from 9am – 6pm, 7 days a week.
