While driving South on Highway 99 today I noticed the Delta Humane Society on the East side of the freeway so thought to go in and check it out. I meet much of the staff and was told how the new education center was once a leaking building with sloped floors and moldy ceilings. That building was eventually condemned after part of the ceiling feel in. Thanks to the gracious donations from many, a beautiful education center and office was built. Quite an upgrade!
They adoption center contains a large wing for all the cute kittens and adult cats that are waiting for homes. They are very lovable! As soon as you walk in you seemed to be pulled in every direction as each feline wants your love and attention. Let me say it was very difficult not to take one home today. Walking past Holly’s Garden we were escorted to the dog wing where all the dogs meet us with overwhelming excitement. There is a lot of love in this building that needs attention!
Saturday June 5th, the Doggie Dash is taking place at Victory Park and starts at 9am. The event will include a 1 mile fun pledge walk & Doggie Contests at the Pet Fashion Show in the following categories: Look-a-Like, Best Tail Wagger, Best Kisser and Best Barker. Come out and support the Delta Humane Society.
The Holly’s Garden and Dog Socialization Area is now open. After several years of hard work and tons of effort the garden and dog socialization project in memory of former Assistant Manager Holly Duncan is now complete.

In addition to being able to adopt a new member of your family you can also volunteer in many different capacities. The Delta Humane society also holds many events and fundraisers throughout the year.
