Day 101 of 365 Things to do in Stockton: Ave on the Mile

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca, 95204 on July 26th, 2010 by keebler – View Comments

The Miracle Mile has a new hot spot.  The Ave on the Mile just recently opened and it is fast becoming a popular spot among the Stockton locals.  See the great reviews on Yelp.

The Ave on the Mile is a classy place that features a modern look that is also comfy.  It has a great bar with some very tasty drinks.  But the one thing that tends to stand out from the look and feel of the place is the quality of service.  Kevin, the owner makes it a point to come over to you and your party to greet and welcome you.  He leads by example and this truly helps guide the staff.

The upscale feeling is something you would find in the Bay Area or somewhere else besides Stockton.  If you have not been there, stop in for lunch or dinner, sit on the great patio and give it a try.

Get the $25.00 gift card for $10.00.  Check out the menu.

Day 85 of 365 Things to do in Stockton: Valley Brew

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca, 95204 on June 25th, 2010 by David – View Comments

Cat Stout, IPA India Pale ale, Luna Blanca, and Indian Red are just a few of the hand-crafted beers made at Valley Brew Brewery and Restaurant. The Indian Red is the one I always order when I go to valley Brew. Valley Brew serves a variety of good bar food, including pizza’s, burgers, hot sandwiches and much more.  I have never had a bad meal and all the food washes down great with the fresh brew.

Located on 157 Adams street, Valley Brew has been producing good beer for over 10+ years. If you haven’t been to the brewery I suggest you go in and check them out. They also have a nice patio for some outdoor dining, which is great for the summer nights.

Valley Brew has a website, but it currently isn’t up. I have been told that it also has new ownership. Lets hope the great beer continues to flow from the taps. You can get more info and see more reviews from other people.

Day 75 of 365 Things to do in Stockton: Siamese Street Thai Cuisine

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca, 95204 on June 12th, 2010 by keebler – View Comments

Siamese Street Thai food is the place to go if you are looking for some great Thai food.  The food is really tasty and is moderately priced.  One of my favorite dishes is the Yellow Curry Chicken over rice.  The traditional yellow curry plate is $7.95 and is made with coconut milk, potatoes, and onions.  It is fantastic.

Also, another popular item is the Pad-thai noodles.  The noodles are soft and tasty as they are sauteed with bean sprouts, green onions tofu and eggs.  Don’t take my word for it, see what 68 other people thought of Siamese Street Thai on Yelp!

If you have never tried Thai food or Siamese Street, I suggest you do.  They are located on 3236 Pacific Ave.  They also offer take out.  Call (209)466-0130 to place an order.

Day 74 of 365 Things to do in Stockton: Farmer’s Markets

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca, 95204, 95207, 95219 on June 11th, 2010 by keebler – View Comments

This is considered by many to be the best season of the year in Stockton.  One main reason is all of the fresh fruit and veggies found at the local farmer’s markets.  There a few farmers markets to choose from throughout the week.  Check out the Stockton Certified Farmers’ Market website which provides these locations.

The San Joaquin Certified Farmer’s Market brings us the following:

  • Behind Weberstown Mall (Corner of Yokuts and Claremont): Thursday’s & Sunday’s 9:00-1:00pm. This location is open all year round on Sunday’s!

What is your favorite thing to buy at the Farmer’s Market?  Please comment below.

Day 48 of 365 Things to do in Stockton: The Pet Parade

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca, 95204 on May 16th, 2010 by keebler – View Comments

Bring your dogs and let them strut their stuff at the Miracle Mile Pet Parade Saturday May 22nd.  In conjunction with the Stockton Animal Shelter Friends, the pet parade will sure be fun.

I have always found it fun to spend a little time people watching while in cities like Las Vegas or San Francisco.  I don’t know what I like about it, I guess it can sometimes be assuming and interesting.  I think this pet parade may be similar in that regard.  Watching the cute little and big dogs of all shapes and sizes should bring a smile to your face.  Some will have sunglasses, head gear and maybe even and iphone costume.

Proceeds of this event will benefit the apodtion, education and spay/neuter programs through the Stockton Animal Shelter Friends (SASF).

Day 44 of 365 Things to do in Stockton: The Treasure Trove

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca, 95204 on May 12th, 2010 by keebler – View Comments

Today I was in search of the past.  I wanted to see what old cool items and knick-knacks I could find.  I thought of the Treasure Trove, and they didn’t disappoint.  I have always been intrigued by antiques and items of the past because it fascinates me on how they made! They’re different. They’re cool!

The Treasure Trove is located on Harding way just south of the Miracle Mile and is across the street from the SUSD Adult education building.  They sell furniture, glass, silverware, jewelry, signs, memorabilia, clothing, china, toys, kitchen/cooking utensils, telephones, pottery, light fixtures, stained glass, old photographs, and much more.  The merchandise is always changing so you have to check back often if you are looking for something special.

In addition to antiques and collectibles, they are experienced in appraisal services and estate sales of all sizes.  Consignment in their store is also available. If your in search of that unique gift I recommend you stop in at the Treasure trove.  Come on in and check them out!

Today is Mother’s Day!  Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mom’s in Stockton and beyond!  Since it is Mother’s Day I thought I would feature a place that mom’s would enjoy,  Southern Exposure.  Southern Exposure is a spa and salon located on the Miracle Mile in Stockton.  My wife loves, loves loves massages!  I know when she comes home after a massage from Southern Exposure she feels loose, and relaxed!  She’s happy.

This spa not only does massages, they also offer pedicures, massages, waxing and facials, body treatments and more. You can do individual treatments or they offer different spa packages.  I have never had a personal treatment there, but all of my female friends say they are wonderful.

Southern Exposure is on the Miracle Mile at 2323 Pacific Ave.

One step into this store and I could smell the aroma of goodness here!  Kat’s Cakes on the Miracle Mile is one of the most popular and sought after cake companies in Stockton.  Named Best of San Joaquin in 2009 and is currently is #3 on the KCRA A-list! Help them become #1; they need your vote!

As you can imagine, Kat’s Cakes makes specialty cakes for ALL occasions including Birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations just to name a few! I think I’m going to have Kat make a wine bottle cake for our next wine party! I can attest, as I have been in the kitchen, that all the cakes are made with care, experience, and from scratch.
