Using search criteria such as the inventor’s name, the date the patent was awarded, its title or a general descriptive phrase, museum visitors will be able to view patents for everything from tomato harvesters to horse pacifiers.

Many Stockton inventors operated independently, creating in the privacy of their home or shop. Others worked for some of the city’s major manufacturing concerns such as the Holt Manufacturing.

It’s any full weekend with plenty of events to choose from. However, if you are a wine lover, like me, you don’t want to miss this one. Wine of the Waterfront, is taking place this Saturday, September 11th. It’s a great event, for a good cause, and in a great location. Don’t miss it. It’s not only a wine event. Scheduled to be at the event are restaurants, caterers and micro-brewers as well. Buy your tickets now and save…

Time: 6pm-9pm

Location: Waterfront Warehouse – 445 W. Weber St. Stockton

This event is a fundraiser for the local Big Brother and Big sister organization for San Joaquin and Sacramento counties. Big Brothers Big Sisters is the nation’s oldest youth mentoring organization helping to change the lives of children (primarily from single-parent homes) so they can face the challenges of growing up with the goal of living successful lives.

Take a look at the event from visitstockton.org.

It is an annual fund raising event benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters. This tasting event has expanded over the past few years from the sampling of a few fine wines to an event which showcases the tastes of over 50 fine wineries, restaurants, caterers and micro-brewers. In past years we’ve had guests from as far away as Oregon, San Francisco, and Monterey. Set in early September to take advantage of the area’s wonderful harvest weather, Wine on the Waterfront is host to an estimated 1000 guests strolling from table to table sampling the area’s finest food and beverages, and enjoying fine jazz and other musical entertainment. A balloon raffle and silent auction adds to the evening’s fun. Representatives of some of California’s finest wineries, restaurants, caterers and microbreweries bring samples of their best products to serve to event participants. Each guest receives a complimentary etched wine glass and butler tray for sampling wine and other beverages. Also available for guests are scrumptious platters of hot and cold appetizers and decadent desserts. An assortment of non-alcoholic beverages will be available.

Tickets: $45 in advance; $235 for a 6 pack of tickets; $50 at the door

Attire: Comfortable Dress

Age: No one under 21. ID’s will be checked at the door.
