Day 102 of 365 Things to do in Stockton: City Center Cinema Theatre

The downtown Stockton City Center Cinema theatre has become the center of downtown.  The City of Stockton has done a lot to help the downtown area become a better place to attract businesses and therefore spend time there.  The theatre is Located in Downtown Stockton in the Janet Leigh Plaza.

Although I have always found the popcorn to be better at other theaters in the area, the best “bang for your buck” is the ice cream.  It is cheap and they give you a lot!  Check it out!

Catching a movie is a great way to beat the weather.  Enjoy a flick rain or shine!  Come downtown, have dinner then see a movie at the City Cinema Theatre.

During the summer months my son can get a little lazy sometimes.  He likes to sleep in, play video games or watach TV.  I was looking for a place to him to get out and be active.  In my search I found the IMPACT teen center.  It has fun activities such as bowling, a computer lab, rock climbing wall, basketball and more.

Membership is only $5 per year!  You can’t be that price.

The Gary & Janice Podesto IMPACT Teen Center opened in April 2005, after being created out of the old El Dorado Bowl.   The center promotes participation in recreational experiences and health and wellness through a variety of activities.

Posted in 365 Things to do in Stockton, Ca, 95202 on July 7th, 2010 by keebler – View Comments

This Friday, July 9th, the Mexican Heritage Center presents its Guacamole for the Soul Cultural series.  The Mexican Heritage center is located on 30 E. Acacia street and this event is scheduled to take start at 7pm.

This Friday’s theme is “The Whole Enchilada.”  From the http://mexicanheritagecenter.org:

Want to be a big hit at your next fiesta? Learn secrets of traditional Mexican “botanitas” (hors d’hoevres), including treats like pozole, enchiladas, albondigas, nopal (cactus salad), ceviche, gorditas, and aguas (drinks), and enjoy delicious free samples!

One Friday of each month, the Mexican Heritage Center has a cultural night, with 3 more remaining for the summer.  The cost is $15 dollars for non-memebers and $10 for Heritage members.  This seems to be a small price to pay to learn how to make the fantastic flavors of the mexican cuisine! I hope you are able to attend and support the Mexican Heritage Center.

Day 73 of 365 Things to do in Stockton: Tidewater Art Gallery

If you find yourself in Downtown Stockton, take a moment to stop in and look at the wonderful art at the Tidewater Art Galley.  The Tidewater Art gallery showcases mostly artists from San Joaquin County.  Tomorrow night, June 11th, from 5pm-8pm the gallery is holding an artist reception.  You will have the opportunity to meet the artist.  Food and drink will be provided.

One goal of the 365 project was to broaden my horizons.  I would not normally consider going to an art gallery a thing to do with my time.  However, since the start of the project it has helped me appreciate the time and efforts one puts into creating a piece of art.  I hope you can take a small amount of your time to step inside this and view the work in this gallery.

Once inside the gallery you will find various forms of art from paintings, sculptures, pottery, and some miscellaneous pieces that boggled my mind.
